We shortlisted some important tasks after installing kali Linux 2.0
1-Most important thing to do is add official repository into your sources.list
For this use the following command
Now paste Following Repository given bellow
1-The Kali Rolling Repository
deb http://http.kali.org/kali kali-rolling main contrib non-free
# For source package access, uncomment the following line
# deb-src http://http.kali.org/kali kali-rolling main contrib non-free
2-Kali sana (2.0) Repositories
paste both in your sources.list to get better updates.
use the following commands to update
root@kali:~# apt-get dist-upgrade
It’s Done now it’s time install some impotent application to make kali more user friendly.
Such as Chrome, Firefox, Picasa, utorrent, xdm(Download Manager), Notepad++, tweak tool, wine, winetricks.
2. How to install chrome
Download Google Chrome official .deb package
Open Default Browser IceWeasel and browse to https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/
Download Google Chrome .deb packages (either 32-bit or 64-bit).
Now type the following in terminal to install Google Chrome in Kali Linux from your downloaded .deb package.
Caution: Please type your full package name or Drop your package in to the terminal.
3.How to install Firefox in your Kali 2.0
Use following command one by one
Remove Iceweasel first
Add necessary sources for Firefox
Add secure gpg keys for the Ubuntu repository. You need this because Kali does not connect to the Ubuntu repository by default.
Update the application repository indexes.
Now Install firefox
3.Now install winetricks
Use following commands to install Winetricks
4.Now Install Picasa
Use the following command
5.Now Install uTorrent
Use Following command
6.Now Install XDM(Download Manager)
7.Now Install Notepad++
Use Following Command
8. Now Install Tweak tool
9. Now Install Virtual Box
Use following Commands
wget download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/4.2.14/virtualbox-4.2_4.2.14-86644~Debian~wheezy_i386.deb dpkg -i virtualbox-4.2_4.2.14-86644~Debian~wheezy_i386.deb
10.Now make VLC Player Run
Use following steps
3.Press Tab – This switches you to ascii
4.Ctrl + s – Search for geteuid
5.Modify it to getppid
6.Ctrl + x – To exit saving changes
